Rotherham United vs Norwich City match preview

Two sides fresh off altogether contrasting starts to the new season are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at the New York Stadium this Saturday, September 2nd.

The matchup in question will see Rotherham United act as hosts, in a meeting with Norwich City.

Beginning with the former, Rotherham have endured a first month to forget, after battling their way to survival in England’s 2nd tier last time out.

The Millers, all told, have notched just a solitary point from an available 12.

And even this only came after Matt Taylor’s troops surrendered a two-goal advantage in a home meeting with Blackburn Rovers.

Last time out, Fred Onyedinma’s 2nd-half effort ultimately proved to be little more than a consolation, en route to a home defeat at the hands of Leicester City.

Safe to say, then, that, sitting clear of the Championship relegation zone by way of little more than goal difference, hosts Rotherham could certainly do with a bounce-back result later today.

As much looks altogether unlikely, however, up against a Norwich City outfit beaming with confidence at present.

The Canaries, as alluded to above, have enjoyed an altogether more productive start to the term, sitting 2nd in the table thanks to three wins and a draw from four.

Not only that, but they’re the clear top scorers in England’s 2nd tier, having rattled off a head-turning 13 goals to date.

Four such goals came last weekend, when all of Josh Sargent, Ashley Barnes, Jonathan Rowe and Adam Idah were on target, en route to a dominant victory at Huddersfield Town.

Norwich’s League Cup hopes remain alive and well, too, owing to a hard-fought victory at Bristol City on Tuesday night.

All of this considered, we at 101 are therefore backing Saturday’s visitors as clear favourites to ultimately emerge on the right side of the result come the full-time whistle at the New York Stadium .
