Two sides fresh off contrasting results last time out are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at The Den this Saturday, August 26th.
The matchup in question will see Millwall act as hosts, in a meeting with Stoke City.
Beginning with the former, Millwall, after an encouraging start to the term, have since stuttered in alarming fashion over the weeks since.
The Lions kicked their campaign into gear with a 1-0 victory at Middlesbrough, sparking hope of another push for a promotion playoff berth.
Since, however, Gary Rowett’s troops have been condemned to a trio of successive defeats across all competitions.
First, a 4-0 drubbing at home to League One Reading saw Millwall sent packing from the EFL Cup, before another fruitless outing in front of goal culminated in defeat to Bristol City.
Such woes, all told, leave the Lions in a lowly 16th in the table in England’s 2nd tier.
And hopeful of adding ever further to the problems of their upcoming hosts will be a Stoke City side who have enjoyed an altogether more fruitful go of things of late.
The Potters, like Millwall, got things up and running in style, by way of a 4-1 demolition of Rotherham United.
This, in turn, was followed by an EFL Cup ousting of West Bromwich Albion, Andre Vidigal proving himself the difference-maker.
And though Alex Neil’s men were brought firmly back down to earth courtesy of a 2-0 defeat at table-topping Ipswich Town, they secured a swift return to winning ways last time out.
The aforementioned Vidigal was again the hero, netting the only goal of the game in a hard-fought victory over Watford.
Stoke, as a result, sit 8th in the Championship table.
So, all of this taken into consideration, how do we at 101 envision Saturday’s action unfolding at The Den?
Visitors Stoke should for obvious reasons be considered the favourites, though an eventual sharing of the spoils between the sides would also not come as a major surprise.
