Millwall vs Luton Town match preview

Two sides in the thick of the promotion playoff battle are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at The Den this Friday, April 7th.

The matchup in question will see Millwall act as hosts, in a meeting with Luton Town.

Beginning with the former, Millwall have endured a trying couple of weeks, either side of the international break.

First, fresh off two wins on the spin, the Lions were condemned to a rare home defeat, by relegation-battling Huddersfield Town.

Then, in their return to action last weekend, Gary Rowett’s troops did at least manage to steady the ship, but only to the tune of a share of the spoils at West Bromwich Albion.

Such form means that Millwall remain in fifth place in England’s 2nd tier, albeit having played a game more than Blackburn Rovers directly below them.

And the outfit occupying 4th at present just so happen to come in the form of the upcoming visitors to The Den.

Luton, for their part, have enjoyed an altogether more fruitful stretch of results of late.

All told, dating back to mid-January, the Hatters have slipped to just a solitary defeat in their last thirteen league fixtures.

Not only that, but, more recently, they have racked up four wins from five, all of which saw Rob Edwards’ men showcase their stellar defensive capabilities, en route to clean sheets.

Last time out, a meeting with Watford at Kenilworth Road saw goals on the part of Gabriel Osho and Allan Campbell prove the difference, en route to a 2-0 result.

Luton, in turn, have joined the impressive Middlesbrough in joint-third in the Championship table, six points off an automatic promotion berth.

After the two sides played out a thrilling 2-2 stalemate in the reverse fixture back in February, we at 101 are therefore backing the spoils to ultimately be shared between Millwall and Luton once more on Friday afternoon.
