Hull vs Sheffield United betting tips: Championship preview, predictions and odds

Match Preview

The Tigers have got off to a decent start under new management and ownership this season as they look to leave the Allam ear behind them. There has been an influx of Turkish Super Lig talent arriving on Humberside over the summer with Allahyar Sayyadmanesh and Ozan Tufan coming in from Fenebache and Antalyaspor respectively. All have acclimatised to the English second division so far with everything looking much more positive this season for Hull.

However, despite the good start, last time out ended in defeat for the Tigers at the hands of QPR at Loftus road. City were three nil down by half-time but did grab a consolation goal in the dying minutes. Shota Arveladze will be hoping for a big response in this Yorkshire derby at home to the Blades, but it will be a tough match with the opposition in fine form. That is reflected in the odds with Hull second-favourites for the win, priced at 11/4.

Sheffield United have really hit their stride this season with three wins in their last five games. The Blades currently sit top of the table and have scored more goals than any other side in the league so far this campaign. Last time out they comprehensively beat in form Reading four nil under the lights at Brammell Lane, with many of their players starting to show they are a cut above this division, none more so than Iliman Ndiaye who is in fine form.

Heckingbottom’s side are looking like the early favourites for the automatic places and are currently priced at 9/2 to win the division along with Norwich. The odds are even shorter for them to gain promotion at 13/8 and unsurprisingly then travel to Humberside as strong frontrunners to take all three points with odds of 19/20.
