Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua: Who won, fight result, highlights

Anthony Joshua knocked Jake Paul out in a boxing match dubbed Judgement Day at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.

The pair went head-to-head on Friday night with millions of eyes on them as they looked to see if the former heavyweight champion would put down the YouTube inside the first few rounds.

But it took until round six of eight before Joshua made his move.

After evading plenty of the 36-year-old’s heavy hits – and landing a couple of surprising blows himself – Paul was knocked out.

A crushing blow to the head that broke his jaw and sent him to the hospital post-fight was enough for the referee to stop the match, leaving AJ to celebrate in front of the American crowd.

Despite that, Paul claimed he had fun in the post-fight press conference, and that his cardio let him down.

He said: “I’m feeling good, that was fun, I love this sport. I gave it my all, it’s crazy. I had a blast, thank you to all the fans.

“Anthony Joshua is a great fighter, I got beat but that’s what this sport is about. I will come back and keep on winning.

“I’ve already won in every single way of life. My family, my beautiful fiancé his sport has helped me so much in my life.

“I think my jaw is broken, it’s definitely broke. That was good, I’ll come back and get a world championship belt at some point.”

On whether he was surprised to get through six rounds: “I’m not surprised, I just got tired. It was a lot handling his weight. If I had better cardio I think I could have kept on fighting. I did my personal best.”

On whether he intends to continue boxing: “For sure. We will heal the broken jaw, come back and fight people my weight. I’m going for the cruiserweight world title.”

Who does he want next? “I’m going to take a little break. I’ve been going hard for six years. I’ll take some time off. This is amazing.”

For Joshua, he opted to look at the bigger picture. The Brit called out Tyson Fury after the match.

He added: “First of all, love to the crowd, I appreciate everyone in this venue.

“It wasn’t the best performance. The end goal was to pin Jake Paul down and hurt him. That has been the request leading up, that was on my mind. It took a bit longer than expected, but the right hand finally found the destination.

“Jake Paul has done really well tonight, I want to give him the props. He got up time and time again. It was difficult in there for him, but he kept trying to find a way. It takes a real man to do that. You have to give Jake credit for trying, but he came up against a real fighter tonight.

“We shook off the cobwebs, I can’t wait for 2026. If Tyson Fury is as serious as he says he is, and he wants to put down his Twitter fingers and put on some gloves, and come and fight one of the realest fighters out there, step into there with me next if you’re a really bad boy.”

Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua: Paul boxing record

Paul’s 13 previous boxing matches had included several wins over MMA fighters well past their peak, including Anderson Silva and Nate Diaz, and a brutal knockout of former NBA player Nate Robinson.

He had lost one of his four bouts against active boxers with a defeat on points in 2023 to Tommy Fury, who had never faced an opponent near world-title level.

Paul won by unanimous decision against former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in June and knocked out former UFC wildman Mike Perry a year earlier.

In between those bouts, Paul beat ex-heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson – then 58 – on points in a farcial-yet-lucrative fight in November 2024.

Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul: AJ record

One of the most decorated names in British boxing history, Joshua was a super-heavyweight Olympic gold medalist in 2012 and had won 28 of his previous 32 fights, leading to concerns that his scrap with Paul would prove an unedifying mismatch.

Joshua knocked out hall-of-famer Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley Stadium to start the first of his two spells as unified world heavyweight champion, between 2017 and 2019 and 2019 and 2021.

The fighter known as AJ lost successive meetings with Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022, then collected four straight wins against opponents of questionable quality before being stopped by Daniel Dubois at Wembley in September 2024.
