The German Super Cup will take centre stage on Saturday as Bayer Leverkusen start their defence against Vfb Stuttgart.

The Bundesliga champions went the 2023-24 campaign losing just one game, the Europa League final to Atalanta.

But now they must go again under Xabi Alonso, who snubbed a move to Liverpool in favour of staying with Leverkusen.

Leverkusen also won the DfB Pokal last term, meaning they face Stuttgart, who came second in the league.
