West Ham v Manchester United preview
West Ham were three games into a 10-match winless run when the Hammers drew 1-1 at Manchester United on December 4, but a 2-0 victory at Burnley on Saturday means Nuno Espirito Santo’s team are now three points behind fourth-bottom Nottingham Forest after three wins in four matches.
A greater attacking threat has been part of their revitalised survival bid, with a run of nine goals in four matches reflecting a significant improvement since they registered two attempts on target at Old Trafford little more than a month after Santo’s arrival.
“We’ve been able to put more players in the box and create more combinations in the final third,” observed the Portuguese.
“To score goals, you have to put more bodies in the box and shoot. We dare our boys to try things, challenge themselves and take risks, because with risks come rewards.

“[United] have a different shape with a different manager and new ideas. They are talented all over the pitch.
“We look at many things at United, but Bruno Fernandes is one we have to look out for. He is a fantastic player.”
United are targeting a fifth straight win since Michael Carrick succeeded Ruben Amorim on an interim basis on January 13, having beaten Tottenham 2-0 on Saturday for their third home victory on that run.
Victory at the London Stadium would send United third above Aston Villa, who host struggling Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday (19:30 GMT).
“They’re very good on transitions,” said Carrick, discussing opponents with whom he started his professional career in 1997, making his senior debut in 1999.
“They’ve got some really good attacking players. When they get a head of steam at home, they’re a dangerous team. We’ve definitely got to be ready to cope with all that.
“There are still things to improve on… trying to be better as a team, collectively, when we don’t have the ball.
“But in three or four weeks, we’re not going to fix everything and all of a sudden look perfect. The clean sheet [on Saturday] was important for us.”

West Ham v Man United team news
Jean-Clair Todibo is serving the second match of a three-game suspension for a red card the centre-back received in West Ham’s 3-2 defeat at Chelsea on January 31.
Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has a back problem, and Santo said he will have other injury absentees while apologetically refusing to name the players concerned.
Defender Matthijs de Ligt (back) is out injured for United, as is full-back Patrick Dorgu (hamstring).
Carrick said midfielder Mason Mount will “probably” not be fit but will “definitely” be available for the subsequent trip to Everton on February 23 (20:00).
