Chelsea v Liverpool – Match Preview

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea side battled to an unconvincing Champions League win in midweek while Liverpool were beaten in Istanbul. Can either side find their best form in the Premier League?

The Blues were handily beaten at home by Brighton last weekend and Maresca doesn’t look to have settled on a side.

Liverpool also look unbalanced after their summer overhaul and are yet to see much return from mega money signings Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz.

The defending Premier League champions need to find some fluency and form and where better to start than at Stamford Bridge…

Chelsea v Liverpool team news

Chelsea striker Joao Pedro was sent-off against Benfica after coming on as a substitute but is available to play in the league.

However centre-back Trevoh Chalobah is banned after his red card against Brighton. With Tosin and Levi Colwill both out injured Chelsea will hope that Wesley Fofana is fit to play after a head injury.

Liverpool are without goalkeeper Alisson who is set to miss around six weeks with a groin injury.

That means a Premier League debut for Giorgi Mamardashvili in goal.

Forward Hugo Ekitike also came off injured in midweek but he is expected to be OK.
