Match Preview for Manchester United v Fulham
Fulham will face a rejuvenated Manchester United on Sunday.
Michael Carrick’s arrival as interim head coach has had a transformational effect on Old Trafford and back-to-back wins over Manchester City and Arsenal have changed the ambitions for the rest of the season.
Under Ruben Amorim, United appeared to be sleepwalking to a mid-table finish but now a tilt at a Champions League qualifying place is a realistic possibility.
United start the weekend in fourth following the win at the Emirates and with home games with Fulham and struggling Spurs to come over the next week, their situation could be even better.
For that to happen, though, they will have to improve their form at Old Trafford where they have won just over half their league games this season.
Carrick said: “I think ultimately consistency is the key to success and in my eyes it is one of the most difficult things to achieve, to be good consistently.
“It takes so much, to be able to cope emotionally with the ups and downs of this game. That is what we are working towards. We have had a great couple of weeks, two good results, big games coming up and it is about keeping the mind in the right place.”
Carrick won’t tolerate any complacency at the weekend, aware of how dangerous Marco Silva’s side can be.
“Marco has got them into a really good team,” he added. “Taking anything for granted is bang out of order really and it might be the case the flow of the game is the same as the last two. There is no shame in that. We will deal with the game in front of us and we will do whatever it takes to come out on top.”
Fulham are three places and four points worse off than United but on a good run. They have lost just one of their last eight league games – at Leeds a fortnight ago.

We fancy the hosts to edge it although Fulham won’t lie down. This is a good test of the ‘new’ United.
