Manchester City v Exeter: Line-ups, stats and preview

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says new signing Antoine Semenyo is available for selection and could feature in tomorrow’s FA Cup third-round tie with Exeter City.

Semenyo completed his £65million move from Bournemouth to the Etihad this morning and goes straight into the squad for the clash with the Grecians.

“He is down to be selected,” said Guardiola. “I don’t know whether he will start or not, but he will be selected, for sure.”

City continue to spend huge amounts on players while they wait for the verdict from an independent commission into 115 charges of financial malpractice. The club deny any wrongdoing.

Guardiola added: “Everyone knows his [Semenyo’s] qualities, right? He played extraordinary at Bournemouth and can play on both sides – right, left – and he uses both legs unbelievably. As a striker he can play as well, with his pace, and he knows the Premier League.

“Many clubs wanted him and he decided to join us. All I can say is thanks to him.”

Exeter will make the long trip north backed by nearly 8,000 fans.

Boss Gary Caldwell has overseen a decent run of one defeat in their last five games, including wins over Barnsley and Luton. And the Scot says his side’s preparation will be no different tomorrow despite the step up in the quality of the opposition.

“We approach it the same as any other game,” Caldwell told the club’s official website. “The analysts watch and give us a report on the team. We watch games – myself and the staff come together and decide how to approach the game and our game plan and we put that into training.

“Preparations don’t change but obviously the outside world wants to know more about us as a football club this week which means we can tell our unique story – but the process remains the same.”
