Preview for Ivory Coast v Mozambique

Defending champions the Ivory Coast enter the Africa Cup of Nations tomorrow when they meet Mozambique in Marrakech.

The West African giants will be looking to replicate their success in 2023 when they beat Nigeria in the final. And coach Emerse Faé is sounding confident ahead of their opener.

“We’re going to Morocco to be strong. We have a very close-knit group,” Fae said.

“The players tell us that they are ready and that they have the same objective as the technical staff. They are motivated to win the AFCON and bring back the fourth star.

“We go to win. There is no additional pressure. We will fight and wet the jersey to go as far as possible.”

Group F looks a strong one as it also features Cameroon and Gabon and a win for either side in this one would go a long way to securing a place in the knockout stages.

Mozambique are among the tournament outsiders but can boast one of the Premier League’s best full-backs in Sunderland’s Reinildo Mandava.
