Al Hilal v Al Nassr preview
Having been four points behind Al-Nassr after 10 matches of the Saudi Pro League season, Al-Hilal can move seven points clear after 14 games if they beat Cristiano Ronaldo’s side on Monday.
Simone Inzaghi’s side secured an 18th straight win in all competitions by beating Al-Hazm 3-0 at home on Thursday through goals by Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Ruben Neves and Darwin Nunez.
“We are happy to have delivered a good performance on all accounts,” said assistant manager Massimiliano Farris, speaking because Inzaghi had strained vocal cords.
“We have a significant number of players missing… but the [players] have performed well and achieved excellent results and performances in the league, the King’s Cup and the AFC Champions League.”
Al-Nassr taken one point from three matches since that perfect 10-game start to their league season, losing their last two 3-2 at Al-Ahli and, on Thursday, 2-1 at home to Al-Qadisiyah.
“The reality now is that Al-Hilal are four points ahead,” said coach Jorge Jesus, rueing the “gifts” his side offered in their latest loss, including a dreadful attempt at a pass by goalkeeper Nawaf Al Aqidi to give former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers’ new team the lead in the 51st minute.
“The only story is that Al-Nassr lost due to individual errors. That’s the story of the match. We must regroup and come back. Nothing is lost.”
Al Hilal v Al Nassr team news
Al-Hilal left-back Moteb Al-Harbi is expected to return after suffering hamstring pain during the warm-up against Al-Hazm, with Nasser Al-Dawsari replacing the Saudi Arabia international in the starting line-up for that game.
Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou and Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly are at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Inzaghi has finalised the signing of Al-Taawoun winger Sultan Mandash, with Mohammed Al-Qahtani set to decide whether to move in the opposite direction on loan until the end of the season as part of the deal.
Al-Khaleej midfielder Murad Hawsawi is also close to joining the club, while Spanish defender Pablo Mari is on the verge of signing from Italian club Fiorentina, according to Al-Riyadh sources.
Centre-back Abdulelah Al-Amri is a doubt for Al-Nassr with a calf issue but Mohamed Simakan should be available after returning to training.
Forward Sadio Mane is at the AFCON with Senegal and Jesus has said Al-Nassr “believe” in the “potential” of Wesley despite but the Brazilian forward only being used as a substitute against Al-Qadisiyah.
“The interest of European clubs in him is not without reason,” added the Portuguese. “He played 20 minutes and was not the reason for our loss.
“We found a solution in him because of Mane’s absence. He is fast and strong in one-on-ones. He is undoubtedly one of [our] foreign players who can be [valuable] in the transfer market.”

Al Hilal v Al Nassr prediction
Al Hilal
Al Nassr
Al-Nassr are arguably under more pressure to earn a result and fared better than Al-Hilal in this fixture in the league last season, winning 3-1 away and drawing 1-1 at home. Victory looks a long shot on current form but they can be backed to half Al-Hilal’s extraordinary winning run.
