A fresh insight into the transfer links between Newcastle United and Barcelona star Memphis Depay has been provided late on Saturday.
Speculation pointing towards a potential St. James’ Park switch for Depay has, of course, begun to mount ahead of the January transfer window.
Amid the ongoing efforts of those in a position of power on Tyneside to reinforce Eddie Howe’s frontline, it has been suggested that out-of-favour Barca star Depay has been identified as a frontrunner target.
This, of course, comes as the Dutch international is forced to battle it out with the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres and Ousmane Dembele for a starting berth at the Camp Nou.

If the latest word stemming from the press late on Saturday is anything to go by, though, then those of a Newcastle persuasion hopeful of seeing Depay line out in the club’s colours over the 2nd-half half of the campaign need not get their hopes up.
This comes after it was confirmed that, in fact, ‘there are no negotiations ongoing’ between any of the attacker, Newcastle or Barcelona.
