Manchester City 0 - Manchester United 1 (Premier League, November 30, 2008) (Longer highlights here.) (MOTD highlights here.) After a tentative opening, Wayne Rooney had the first real chance of the derby with a shot in the box that was saved by Hart. United then began to turn up the pressure, Ronaldo sending a header over the bar before Dimitar Berbatov forced a fine one-handed save from Hart with another header moments later. And United continued to turn the screw with Patrice Evra lifting a shot just over the bar. But after dominating possession, United then suffered the biggest scare of the match as Stephen Ireland’s shot scraped the outside of the post. Just as it looked like that half would end goalless City found themselves penned in their box, Carrick’s shot was only parried by Hart and Rooney scored from close-range. (First half highlights here.) Garrido sent a free-kick just wide just after the hour mark, but the second half came to life when Cristiano Ronaldo made a huge error in judgment by handling a cross in the City box and receiving his marching orders after collecting his second yellow. At the death Wayne Rooney tried to score from 50-yards but Hart managed to scamper back and save the ball off the line.
Chelsea 1 - Arsenal 2 (Premier League, November 30, 2008) (Longer highlights here.) (MOTD highlights here.) 20 minutes in at Stamford Bridge and Frank Lampard forced a save from Almunia with a header. On the half hour the Arsenal goalie was at fault for Chelsea’s opener, Almunia carelessly threw out the ball to lose the Gunners possession and Bosingwa’s teasing cross was turned into his own net from Johan Djourou. (First half highlights here.) After soaking up a lot of pressure at the start of the second half, Arsenal sucker-punched the Blues with a powerful right-footed strike from Robin van Persie (offside), which left Cech grabbing thin air. The Gunners then stunned the Bridge with a second moments later, Adebayor won a header from a free-kick, and van Persie picked up the ball and hit a low shot on the turn. (Second half highlights here.)
Tottenham 0 - Everton 1 (Premier League, November 30, 2008) After a goalless first half at White Hart Lane, Tottenham having the better of the limited chances (first half highlights here), it was Everton who moved ahead after the break as Steven Pienaar broke the deadlock with a shot that deflected off Corluka.
Portsmouth 3 - Blackburn 2 (Premier League, November 30, 2008) (MOTD highlights here.) Blackburn plunged further into the relegation mire as Paul Ince’s side lost at Fratton Park. Sunderland 1 - Bolton 4 (Premier League, November 29, 2008) (MOTD highlights here.) Djibril Cisse put Sunderland ahead when he finished off a fine move, but Bolton hit back with a looping header from Matty Taylor and a rifled strike from Gary Cahill. Just on the half-hour Cisse thought he had equalised with an acrobatic volley but it was ruled out as Jones had pushed Samuel. Johan Elmander put Bolton 3-1 up just before the break following some shocking defending from Collins. (First half highlights here.) Elmander got his second and third in two games after yet more horrible defending.
Stoke 1 - Hull 1 (Premier League, November 29, 2008) Marlon King’s fine turn and finish in first-half injury time handed Hull the lead after a poor opening half. After the break the hosts drew level as Ricardo Fuller was brought down for a penalty which he squeezed past Boaz Myhill.
Wigan 2 - West Brom 1 (Premier League, November 29, 2008) (MOTD highlights here.) After a goalless first half, the Baggies took the lead in the 47th minute as Ishmael Miller exploited a terrible Titus Bramble error to slot the visitors in front. But the Latics responded, first through Henri Camara’s second goal in as many games before finding a winner through unlikely hero Emmerson Boyce who headed home the crucial goal five minutes from time.

Norwich 1 - Crystal Palace 2 (Championship, November 25, 2008) A Craig Beattie strike and a fine John Oster chip gave Palace a two goal lead at Carrow Road. The hosts pulled one back with Matthew Pattison nodding in Lee Croft’s cross. (Apologies for the quality of the video.)

Tottenham 1 - Blackburn 0 (Premier League, November 23, 2008) (MOTD highlights here.) Tottenham started nervously, but after riding some early luck Olsson lost the ball to Aaron Lennon, the nippy winger sped down the right, picked out Roman Pavlyuchenko and the Russian confidently hit the back of the net. Spurs dominated the majority of the match thereafter, failing to get the second they deserved but holding on for another three points. (First half highlights here.)
Sunderland 0 - West Ham 1 (Premier League, November 23, 2008) West Ham made the breakthrough at the Stadium of Light midway through the first half, a Faubert free-kick was only partially cleared to Valon Behrami, who rifled a shot off Kenwyne Jones and past Fulop. With the Mackems resorting to speculative shots from Andy Reid, the Hammers should have been 2-up at the break, Bellamy broke, rounded the keeper and played in Behrami from four yards out with a virtually open net, only to see his shot rebound off the bar for one of the misses of the season. (First half highlights here.)

Ronaldo dragged a free-kick wide of the post as the first-half ended in stalemate. (First-half highlights here.) Ashley Young floated a terrific right wing shot which Van der Sar finger-tipped over the bar straight after the break. For United, Rooney was struggling to make an impact as he smashed a half-volley wide, wide and handsome at the back post.
Manchester City 3 - Arsenal 0 (Premier League, November 22, 2008) (MOTD highlights here.)Â Benjani couldn’t quite connect with a cross midway through the half at Eastlands. The best chance of the half for Arsenal came to Song after Hart had parried Nasri’s free-kick and Bendtner had back-heeled to the Cameroonian. In injury-time of the first-half, Stephen Ireland profited from an awful mix-up between Clichy and Silvestre and fired City ahead. Ten minutes into the second period, Robinho lifted the ball over Almunia for City’s second after great work by SWP. Robinho could have scored a third when he rounded Almunia but Djorou blocked on the line. Robin van Persie had a goal disallowed for kicking the ball out of Hart’s hands and Daniel Sturridge did get the third from the penalty spot late on.
Chelsea 0 - Newcastle 0 (Premier League, November 22, 2008) (MOTD highlights here.) Shay Given saved from a Lampard header with the first action of note at Stamford Bridge. Portsmouth 2 - Hull 2 (Premier League, November 22, 2008) A depleted Pompey side twice led through a Peter Crouch header in 21 minutes (first-half highlights here) and Glen Johnson’s ferocious 25-yard shot either side of Michael Turner’s third goal of the season from a corner. But the Tigers got a late leveller through Noe Pamarot’s own goal in the 86th minute. (Second-half highlights here.)
Middlesbrough 1 - Bolton 3 (Premier League, November 22, 2008) Matty Taylor’s free-kick found the head of Gretar Steinsson in the 8th minute, to net the opener. Steinsson returned the favour two minutes later as Taylor made it 2-nil. (First-half highlights here.) Emmanuel Pogatetz struck a half-volley past Jaaskelainen in the 77th minute from Downing’s corner, but only a minute later Bolton’s two-goal lead was restored, when Johan Elmander received the ball in the Boro box and fired past Turnbull. (Second-half highlights here.)
Stoke 1 - West Brom 0 (Premier League, November 22, 2008) (MOTD highlights here.) Danny Higginbotham’s 84th minute cross was nodded past Scott Carson by Mamady Sidibe to send the Baggies back home without a win since the start of October.
