Inter Miami v Dallas match preview
Inter Miami return from one of their longest and least successful trips of the season so far when the MLS title hopefuls host Dallas on Sunday (19:00 ET).
Captain Lionel Messi, striker Luis Suarez and midfielder Sergio Busquets were among Miami’s star players to take the 14-hour round flight to the Vancouver Whitecaps on Thursday, only to lose the the first leg of their CONCACAF Champions Cup semi-final 2-0.
“We prepared a lot but lapses of concentration… there were two times when we didn’t put in our best effort and they were able to capitalise,” said defender Noah Allen after Miami twice conceded from crosses on an all-weather turf.
“We’re not going to hang our heads down and dwell on this game. We’re going to move on to Dallas with full mentality and a good attitude, knowing that we have a very important [second leg] on Wednesday.”

If Miami’s second defeat of the season has already given Dallas cause for encouragement, the Western Conference side have the added incentive of extending their strong record in the fixture.
Los Toros have won two and drawn one of the three MLS meetings between the teams, most recently prevailing 1-0 away through Jesus Ferreira’s goal in April 2023.
Dallas almost ended Miami’s glorious 2023 Leagues Cup campaign at the last-16 stage, leading 4-2 in the 79th minute at the Toyota Stadium.
The visitors scored twice late on – including an 85th-minute Lionel Messi equaliser – and proceeded to advance on penalties.

Miami v Dallas team news
Petar Musa missed Dallas’ 0-0 draw at Minnesota on Sunday because of a sprained ankle, and manager Eric Quill might be particularly keen for the former Croatia striker to return because his side have gone 210 minutes without scoring since Musa netted in a 1-1 draw at Atlanta United.
Quill rotated his starting team against Minnesota, bringing in forward Pedrinho, on-loan Maccabi Haifa midfielder Show Cafumana and debutant Lalas Abubakar in defence.
Osaze Urhohgohide, Shaq Moore and Ramiro are the three players to have started every match for Dallas this season.
With an onerous-looking decider against Vancouver on Wednesday (20:00), Mascherano is almost certain to consider resting the likes of Messi and Suarez.
The former Argentina international has hinted that full-back Julian Gressel, who is yet to feature in this season’s MLS, is close to leaving the club.

Inter Miami v Dallas prediction
Dallas tend to prove tough opponents for Miami and their chances of securing a positive result have perhaps never been higher, with the visitors unbeaten in their opening five MLS away games and The Herons coming off the back of a long away trip, with one eye on Wednesday’s knockout match.
Miami are the only unbeaten team in the MLS but have dropped points in three of their eight league games. A 1-1 draw here would not be a surprise.
