NFL: Police seek to arrest Antonio Brown on attempted murder charge – reports

The former football star is wrapped up in another controversy.

Police issued an arrest warrant for former NFL star Antonio Brown on an attempted murder charge related to a shooting incident at a celebrity boxing match in Miami last month, according to reports.

The warrant alleges Brown attempted to commit murder using a firearm. It also stipulates a $10,000 bond and house arrest.

The alleged shooting occurred during an event hosted by online personality Adin Ross. Brown was briefly taken into custody after shots were fired.

Social media footage from the evening showed Brown in a physical confrontation, with gunfire heard shortly afterwards.

Brown was released a few hours later. He addressed the situation publicly on X stating: “I was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewellery and cause physical harm to me.

“Contrary to some video circulating, Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me.

“I WENT HOME THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ARRESTED. I will be talking to my legal counsel and attorneys on pressing charges on the individuals that jumped me.”

Police say several witnesses identified Brown as the shooter, and two shell casings were discovered at the location of the altercation. Although Brown was unarmed when officers detained him, the man involved in the fight with Brown alleged that the former NFL player pursued him with a gun and fired two shots after the initial scuffle had been de-escalated.

This latest legal trouble adds to a long list of controversies Brown has faced since his NFL exit.

Once considered a surefire Hall of Fame candidate during his dominant tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Brown’s career quickly unravelled after being traded to the Oakland Raiders in 2019.

He never played a game for the Raiders, clashed with management, and dealt with off-field issues, including a frostbite injury from improper use of a cryotherapy machine and disputes over helmet regulations.

Following his release from the Raiders, Brown joined the New England Patriots but was cut after just one appearance when a former trainer filed a sexual assault lawsuit against him.

In a separate 2020 incident, Brown pleaded no contest to charges related to an altercation with movers at his residence. He was sentenced to probation, community service, and court-ordered evaluations but avoided jail time.

He returned to the league with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020 and played a part in their Super Bowl LV victory.

However, Brown’s tenure ended in dramatic fashion when he exited the field mid-game during the 2021 season and never returned to professional football.
