Tottenham team news and predicted XI vs Liverpool

The latest from the Lilywhite camp ahead of the top of the table Premier League clash

Unbeaten Tottenham face another early test of their credentials as they host fellow unbeaten side Liverpool on Saturday evening.

The two sides fell short of their expectations last season, but the Lilywhites in particular have impressed in the early part of the season under new boss Ange Postecoglu.

Victory over Manchester United and a draw against last season’s runners up Arsenal, coming from behind twice in the latter, have ensured a feel-good factor hangs over the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will travel on the back of their own unbeaten record looking to burst that balloon.

Having won their last seven games in all competitions, the Reds are currently Manchester City’s closest challengers, with the Merseyside outfit just two points behind last season’s treble winners and two points clear of both Arsenal and Tottenham.

A win here would further underline their title credentials, while victory for Postecoglou’s side will only serve to highlight the job that the new man has done since his arrival.

Here’s how we expect Spurs to line up, and the latest team news from north London.

Predicted XI

Team News

Tottenham still have some injury problems through their squad, with Ivan Perisic having added to them with an ACL injury picked up last week which is expected to rule him out for the season.

The main concern remains over James Maddison, who picked up a knee injury against Arsenal. However, the Times report that Spurs are ‘optimistic’ that his issue isn’t serious and that he should be fit to start against the Reds after training on the grass this week.

There are still plenty sidelined though; Rodrigo Bentancur is still recovering from his knee injury picked up last season, while Bryan Gil, Giovani Lo Celso and summer signing Brennan Johnson are all also out with injuries of their own, the latter picking up a hamstring issue against Arsenal.

In better news, fullback Ryan Sessegnon has returned to training, but this game will come too soon for the England defender.
