Concern for Leeds as key attacker limps out of international duty

Premier League outfit Leeds United have, late on Saturday, been dealt a potential blow on the personnel front.

The Whites star to have set pulses racing back at Elland Road? Wilfried Gnonto.

For those not aware, wide-man Gnonto was back in action on the international stage a short time ago.

After being introduced off the bench en route to Italy’s defeat at the hands of England in midweek, this time round, the 19-year-old was utilised from the off, as Roberto Mancini’s troops made the trip to Malta eyeing a bounce-back result.

And though the Azzurri, for their part, are currently on their way towards precisely that, the aforementioned Gnonto finds himself watching on from the treatment room.

This comes after the explosive young attacker was forced into a premature departure from proceedings at The National Stadium.

Despite doing his best to run off what appeared to be an ankle concern, ultimately, Gnonto was left with no choice but to limp off, accompanied by the Italian medical team.

Javi Gracia and the powers that be back at Leeds, in turn, face an anxious wait for an update on the wellbeing of a player quickly establishing himself as something of a fan favourite in west Yorkshire.
