Premier League giants Manchester City have identified a headline member of the defensive ranks at Bayern Munich as their first-choice target to replace the outbound Kyle Walker, according to reports.
For those who may have missed it, a fresh, and altogether significant update on right-back Walker’s future was forthcoming earlier today.
This came in the form of confirmation that the England international has given the go-ahead to bringing an end to his starring stint in Manchester, in favour of a new adventure in Germany, with Bayern Munich.
Negotiations, in turn, have been kicked into gear between the respective boards at The Etihad and Allianz Arena, with a view to striking a deal over the course of the week ahead.
As alluded to above, though, should City have their way, then the ongoing talks with their counterparts in Munich could soon include a headline member of Thomas Tuchel’s squad, too.
The player in question? Benjamin Pavard.
As revealed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano:
‘Manchester City have now Benjamin Pavard on top of their list as new right back.’
The German international, available at a reduced price ahead of the expiration of his contract next summer, has emerged as Pep Guardiola’s ‘priority’ target to replace Walker.
A cash-plus-player deal, as a result, could be on the cards, with English champions City sending Walker, along with an agreed sum, to the Allianz for Pavard.
