Mathys Tel makes clear statement surrounding his future amid Tottenham interest

The French youth international arrived in Bavaria last summer after rising through the youth ranks at Stade Rennais and is widely viewed as one of the most gifted U19 talents in Europe.

A potential pathway to a solution surrounding the future of Harry Kane has seemingly been pulled off the table after Bayern Munich starlet Mathys Tel has gone on the record surrounding his desire to remain at the Allianz Arena.

According to reports from Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg after an exclusive interview with the French U19 international, Tel confirms that he envisions himself remaining at Bayern, with the Bundesliga juggernaut the only club on his mind.

“Of course, I want to get better at FC Bayern. I always want to learn and speak and work. In my mind, there’s only FC Bayern. Today I’m in Munich, playing for FC Bayern. Always FC Bayern, Mia San Mia!”

This comes in the wake of Spurs positing the idea of including a deal for Tel intertwined in the possible sale of club icon Harry Kane as Bayern continues to push for the 30-year-old to be brought into the fold under Thomas Tuchel.

For Tuchel, Tel remains a player he would prefer to keep, but recent quotes from the Bayern boss did potentially throw a measure of uncertainty around the future of the prolific youth international goalscorer, with the former Chelsea taskmaster potentially open to parting ways with the Frenchman “if something changes very late in the transfer window.”

The French youth international arrived in Bavaria last summer after rising through the youth ranks at Stade Rennais and is widely viewed as one of the most gifted U19 talents in Europe before ultimately scoring five goals in 22 Bundesliga appearances.

But despite Tel’s desire to remain at the club, there seemingly are still not being given enough minutes to go around after Bayern’s pre-season preparations this summer, with the former Les Rouge et Noirs striker very much second-fiddle to the likes of Serge Gnabry and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting at present.

With that knowledge, there could be more to come from this story before the transfer window closes in September.
