Manchester United’s summer spending could take an unexpected change of direction and head toward the Allianz Arena after reports suggest the Red Devils remain interested in German international midfielder Leon Goretzka.
Per reports from Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg, the future of the 28-year-old midfield talisman has been thrown into question of late after Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel reportedly is set to prefer the midfield tandem of Joshua Kimmich and summer acquisition Konrad Laimer.
Additionally, Bayern is thought to still be in for a holding midfielder before the conclusion of the summer window, offering further resistance to a pathway to minutes in the preferred XI.
As such, Manchester United is rumored to be keeping tabs on the situation at Säbener Straße and could potentially make a play for his services as Erik ten Hag looks to retool the depth of quality in the Red Devils senior team.
West Ham United is also rumored to be interested in the former FC Schalke 04 standout in what would amount to a massive transfer coup for the Hammers.
However, given the club’s failure to come to terms with Southampton over captain James Ward-Prowse regarding the fee damnded by Saints, it would be difficult to see the Europa Conference LEague winners willing to pay what it could potentially take to bring Goretzka to the English capital.
