Man United’s €55 million deal for chief summer target now ‘imminent’

Premier League giants Manchester United are, at long last, on the verge of closing a deal for a chief summer transfer target, according to reports.

The player in question? Andre Onana.

The name of shot-stopper Onana has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines on the red half of Manchester over the course of the last couple of weeks.

This comes after word was forthcoming that the Cameroonian international has been identified as a leading target to take his place between the posts at Old Trafford next season.

The Red Devils’ transfer team are currently in the process of sourcing fresh goalkeeping blood, on the back of the departure of long-time no.1 David de Gea on a free transfer.

And, despite past links with the likes of Porto standout Diogo Costa and AC Milan’s Mike Maignan, Onana, fresh off a stellar campaign, is understood to have made his way to the top of the wishlist of Erik ten Hag.

In turn, it will no doubt come as a boost to all associated with United to hear that, in the midst of painstaking negotiations between the respective boards at Old Trafford and San Siro, at long last, the structure of a deal is now in place.

As confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, a fresh offer for Onana was forthcoming earlier today.

The Red Devils proposal in question consisted of an initial €50 million sum, backed by a further €5 million in bonuses.

And this package, it seems, has done the trick, with the transfer now labelled as ‘imminent’, ahead of an official announcement potentially as early as this weekend.
