Man United to close deal for chief summer target ‘by end of next week’

Premier League giants Manchester United are on the verge of sealing a deal for a potentially game-changing summer signing, according to reports.

The player in question? Andre Onana.

The name of shot-stopper Onana has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines on the red half of Manchester over the course of the last couple of weeks.

This comes after word was forthcoming that the Cameroonian international has been identified as a leading target to take his place between the posts at Old Trafford next season.

The Red Devils’ transfer team are currently in the process of sourcing fresh goalkeeping blood, ahead of the expected departure of long-time no.1 David de Gea on a free transfer.

And, despite past links with the likes of Porto standout Diogo Costa and AC Milan’s Mike Maignan, Onana, fresh off a stellar campaign, is understood to have made his way to the top of the wishlist of Erik ten Hag.

In turn, it will no doubt come as a boost to all associated with United to hear of the 27-year-old inching ever closer to making the move to the Theatre of Dreams.

As confirmed in a major update on the part of transfer expert Fabrizio Romano late on Friday:

‘Manchester United are now really close to signing André Onana! Positive round of talks, final bid to arrive soon then done deal.’

In fact, the report goes as far as to state that the deal will be fully signed and sealed ‘by the end of next week’.
