Erling Haaland’s surprisingly low release clause revealed

Erling Haaland is said to have a fairly low release clause in his Manchester City contract.

Erling Haaland signed for Manchester City for £51 million from Borussia Dortmund during the summer of 2022.

Despite only spending one season at the Etihad, he has already scored 58 goals in 59 games in all competitions.

The Norwegian broke countless Premier League records in 2023/24, including most goals in one season.

And after Manchester City completed the proper treble earlier this year, Haaland is among the favourites to lift the 2023 Ballon d’Or.

As a result, Man City obviously do not want to sell the player any time soon. However, according to a recent report from 90mim, Haaland has several release clauses in his current contract, including a fixed-price release fee of £150 million that will activate from 2025 onwards.

£150m is, of course, still a lot of money, but when you think Moises Caicedo just went to Chelsea for £115m, an extra £35m for Haaland seems very low considering he is expected to be one of the two best players in the world for the next decade.
