Spanish giants Barcelona have stepped up their pursuit of a key member of the midfield setup at Champions League finalists Inter Milan, according to reports.
The player in question? Marcelo Brozovic.
The name of Croatian international Brozovic has of course taken its place centre stage in the European media headlines across the week to date.
This comes amid widespread reports that the 30-year-old is locked in negotiations with Al Nassr, over a move to the Saudi Pro League.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, talks between all of Brozovic, Inter and Al Nassr have reached ‘the final stages’, with the final decision set to fall on the shoulders of the all-action midfielder himself.
As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media late on Saturday evening is anything to go by, then Brozovic’s call could soon be made an altogether more difficult one.
This comes with the aforementioned Barcelona ready to position themselves in the thick of the race for the Croat’s signature.
As per highly-respected Blaugrana insider Achraf Ben Ayad, the hierarchy at the Camp Nou are preparing a concerted push, to convince Brozovic of the merits of a move to La Liga.
The coming hours are labelled as ‘decisive’ in the saga, with Barca having put efforts to sign any alternative midfield options on hold until a final answer on the plans of the club’s chief target is forthcoming.
