West Bromwich Albion vs Millwall match preview

Two sides separated by just a point in the table are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at The Hawthorns this Saturday, September 23rd.

The matchup in question will see West Bromwich Albion act as hosts, in a meeting with Millwall.

Beginning with the former, West Brom currently find themselves in the midst of a shaky spell of form.

Since racking up seven points from nine late in August, the Baggies have failed to emerge triumphant from any of their last three.

A 2-1 defeat at home to Huddersfield was followed by a goalless stalemate at Bristol City in the club’s return on the back of the international break, with Carlos Corberan’s troops having then made the trip to Watford in midweek.

And, when all said and done, despite taking an early lead at Vicarage Road, once more, West Brom were forced to settle for a share of the spoils.

Such woes, all told, leave the Baggies sitting in a lowly 15th in the Championship table.

Turning attentions towards the upcoming visitors to The Hawthorns, Millwall, too entered the latest round of midweek fixtures amid something of a slump.

Four defeats in six across all competitions, rounded out by a 3-0 drubbing at home to Leeds United, saw alarm bells begin to sound at The Den.

Safe to say, then, that a return to winning ways, and a dominant one at that, could not have come at a much better time.

This past Wednesday, the Lions played host to relegation battlers Rotherham United.

And, come the full-time whistle, goals on the part of all of Ryan Longman, Zian Flemming and Tom Bradshaw had guided Gary Rowett and co. to a deserved 3-0 triumph.

Millwall, as a result, have climbed back clear of their upcoming hosts, to 11th in the standings.

So, all of this taken into consideration, how do we at 101 envision Saturday’s action unfolding at The Hawthorns?

We are backing an eventual sharing of the spoils between West Brom and Millwall.
