Millwall vs Rotherham United match preview

Two sides with sights on a bounce-back result are set to lock horns as part of the midweek round of Championship fixtures on Wednesday, September 20th.

The matchup in question will see Millwall act as hosts, in a meeting with Rotherham United.

Beginning with the former, Millwall have endured something of a hit-and-miss campaign to date.

All told, across six league outings, the Lions have notched a pair of wins, to go along with a draw, and two defeats.

Most recently, in their return to action on the back of the international break, Gary Rowett’s troops welcomed Leeds United to The Den, hopeful of making it three on the spin without defeat.

When all was said and done, however, an underwhelming display ultimately culminated in Millwall being put to the sword by three goals to nil.

Such woes have seen Wednesday’s hosts-in-waiting tumble to a lowly 18th in England’s 2nd tier.

And yet, Millwall could well fancy their chances of a swift return to winning ways later today.

This comes with their upcoming opponents having not exactly set the world alight themselves over the season’s early weeks.

In fact, Rotherham have struggled, on their way to just four points from an available 18.

The Millers did appear to have turned things around in their final outing ahead of the international break, after putting high-flying Norwich City to the sword by two goals to one.

This was followed in turn by defeat this past weekend, though, at the hands of fellow strugglers Huddersfield Town.

Matt Taylor’s men therefore find themselves in 21st in the standings, just two points clear of the bottom three.

And we at 101 view it as unlikely that Rotherham will fare too much better on Wednesday, albeit with a hard-fought point not out of the question at The Den.
