Hirving Lozano is joining Major League Soccer expansion side San Diego FC in 2025.

The Mexican winger has been announced as the club’s first ‘Designated Player’ signing and will depart PSV Eindhoven for the US in January of next year.

Lozano, 28, will sign a four-year contract and earn between $7-9million a year, according to ESPN.

San Diego are joining the MLS from the 2025 campaign and made sure to bring in a marquee signing to get their project up and running.

Speaking after signing on the dotted line, Lozano said: “It’s exciting to be part of history as we build a club that will compete for championships in MLS.

“In every country I have played, I always strive to leave a mark, and making an impact for San Diego and in MLS is very important to me.

“I identified with the project immediately and I am confident we will be able to help a lot of youth players from both sides of the border.

“I am beyond excited and look forward to finishing the year strong with PSV Eindhoven and joining San Diego FC at the start of 2025.”

Lozano will have the option to extend his stay in San Diego by an extra two years at the end of the 2028 campaign.

He is set to be introduced to fans and the media next week.

The club are signing a top talent who has 70 caps for Mexico and has a rich history at the top of the game, playing for the likes of PSV and Napoli.
