Robert Lewandowski

Poland vs Senegal betting tips: World Cup match preview & predictions

Poland vs Senegal 101 Great Goals prediction: Poland 2-1 Senegal

Senegal go into their first World Cup under a Senegalese manager with plenty of confidence but that alone doesn’t get you results on the biggest stage.

Even with players such as Sadio Mane, Aliou Cissé’s team come up against a Poland side who have a free-firing Robert Lewandowski.

Though, Poland are not just a one-man team as they breezed through the qualification stage and also reached the quarter-finals in Euro 2014.

With that in mind, this test is likely to be too much for Senegal, though it could be a close affair.

Poland vs Senegal: Who will win?

Poland go into the game as 27/20 favourites while Senegal trail behind at odds of 12/5 with Bet365.

There will certainly be much emphasis on attacking during this game, with players such as Robert Lewandowski and Sadio Mane the main men for their respective sides.

You can get the former to score first at 11/4 while Liverpool’s Mane is priced at 13/2 to net first.

Though, the most appealing odds come in the form of Robert Lewandowski to score any time with a Poland 2-1 win, priced at 13/1.

Aliou Cissé will certainly have a job on his hands to get Senegal through to the knockout stage.

Cissé became the first Senegalese manager to guide the side to a World Cup when they qualified for this tournament in a pretty impressive feat.

A side led by the likes of top players Sadio Mane and Kalidou Koulibaly would be expected to do pretty well, but they come up against some strong sides.

They are joined in Group H by Colombia, Japan and Tuesday’s opponents Poland which is a hard one to judge to say the least.

Aliou Cissé’s hopes of leading his side past the group stage certainly lie in the hands of some of their star players such as Sadio Mane.

Though, Poland have their own star man which should have the African side worried.

Koulibaly v Lewandowski

The key battle of this game will come in the form of Napoli’s strong central defender Kalidou Koulibaly coming up against Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski.

Both are praised highly at their respective clubs and will provide brilliant viewing for fans with an incredible battle.

Lewandowski scored 16 goals in the qualifying stage of the tournament, one more than Portugal v Spain hat-trick hero Cristiano Ronaldo.

Safe to say, this could be where the game is won or lost.

Poland vs Senegal team news

Unfortunately for Poland fans, it looks as though star defender Kamil Glik is set to miss out against Senegal.

With that in mind, Southampton’s Jan Bednarek is set to be given the nod.

Arkadiusz Milik will likely start on the bench and could come on to join Lewandowski in attack should they need him.

The Napoli hitman suffered a freak injury when visiting a Dolphinarium but is expected to be fit for the Senegal encounter.

For Senegal though, it’s all good news.

That is because they go into the game without any injury concerns.
