While Brazil were not able to beat Switzerland in their first game of the World Cup in Russia, they are expected to grow into the tournament.

Philippe Coutinho’s stunning strike looked to be the first of many in this year’s competition for Brazil but it was Switzerland who impressed in the end.

They were able to get themselves level through Steven Zuber and hold on to earn themselves a vital point.

Brazil vs Costa Rica World Cup match preview

Focussing first on Costa Rica, the Central American played their first World Cup game against Serbia on Sunday.

Though, there was little to be positive about as they lost 1-0 and were dominated for most of the game.

It took several saves from Real Madrid shot-stopper Keylor Navas to keep the side from falling behind until the deadlock was broken.

Former Manchester City left-back Aleksandar Kolarov scored a stunning free-kick to eventually break Navas, with his pinpoint strike placed right in the top corner.

If Costa Rica struggled against Serbia’s forwards, they will have their work cut out for them when they face Brazil.

Brazil to turn on the style vs Costa Rica?

Philippe Coutinho showed just why Barcelona paid so much to sign him as his stunning strike against Switzerland put his side ahead.

Coutinho is only one of several dangermen in a Brazil side that is still tipped for big things this summer.

Gabriel Jesus and Neymar will both be hoping to open their World Cup accounts having failed to find the net against Switzerland.

Even on the bench, the side have Roberto Firmino who impressed in the friendly games prior to the World Cup. Following a fantastic season with Liverpool.

Despite their attacking struggles against Switzerland, you would expect a better showing against Costa Rica.

Costa Rica team news vs Brazil

Costa Rica have no injury worries going into the game but there could be a few changes.

Defender Giancarlo Gonzalez and winger Cristian Gamboa were the most impressive for Costa Rica and will likely keep their spots.

Brazil team news vs Costa Rica

Meanwhile for Brazil, the big news is that Neymar reportedly limped out of training on Tuesday.

Their star man was not that impressive against Switzerland but is very much key to their success.

There have been some suggestions that he was just withdrawn from training as a precaution. With that in mind, you would expect Neymar to play.

And, the PSG superstar has confirmed his fitness. Going into the match it would now be a huge surprise if Neymar doesn’t play.

In the build-up to the match, Tite confirmed Brazil would line up as they did against Switzerland and that Neymar would start.

Update: There is a late change to the Brazil side – Danilo will not play due to a hip injury. Corinthians right back Fagner will take his place in the team.
