Brazil vs Belgium betting tips: World Cup match preview & predictions

Brazil vs Belgium 101 Great Goals prediction: Brazil 2-1 Belgium

Belgium have arguably been the most impressive side in the World Cup so far but with Brazil starting to hit form, it could be a bridge too far.

Roberto Martinez’s side only made it through to the next round by the skin of their teeth as they needed to come back from 2-0 down against Japan.

Meanwhile, Brazil are starting to hit the usual heights that we expect of them and at exactly the right time.

Brazil vs Belgium: Who will win?

Brazil actually go into the game as pretty strong favourites with odds of 23/20 with bet365.

Meanwhile, Belgium can be backed at odds of 27/10.

Brazil to win the game by a scoreline of 2-1 comes at odds of 17/2 which could be seen as a fair price.

There will be much talk about the goalscoring threat of both teams going into this game and rightly so.

Romelu Lukaku, Neymar, Eden Hazard and Philippe Coutinho are just a few world-class names that will be on show.

Neymar is favourite to score first in the game with odds of 4/1 after his performance against Mexico while Lukaku is 9/2.

You can actually get Eden Hazard to net first at very attractive odds of 8/1.

Brazil vs Belgium match preview

This could possibly be the biggest match of the World Cup so far with one of the best teams in world football coming up against one of the rising stars.

There is no secret that Belgium are still a pretty young team and the ‘golden generation’ is starting to reach its peak.

Kevin De Bruyne has been immense for Manchester City, while Romelu Lukaku is as dangerous in front of goal as he’s ever been.

Eden Hazard has not always maintained his impressive form but is a huge danger nonetheless and many others impressed in the group stage.

Belgium were always expected to progress with England out of Group G and did so emphatically with a 5-2 win over Tunisia and a 3-0 win over Panama.

The game against England cannot be judged fairly with both sides fielding extremely weakened sides in the hopes of finishing second in the group. As well as resting key men.

Adnan Janazaj wasn’t reading from the same script though, as his stunner sealed the win and top spot for Roberto Martinez’s men.

That meant they would face Japan in the next round and that is where it all got pretty interesting.

Japan went 2-0 up and it took a spirited fight back for Belgium to get back into the game and eventually win it late on.

That will give Brazil all the encouragement in the world as they start to hit form at exactly the right time.

Is the Brazilian samba coming back?

It was a lacklustre start to the tournament for Brazil, with many coming into Russia 2018 with the impression they would be favourites for the competition.

Brazil did little to convince everyone of that when they stumbled to a 1-1 draw with Switzerland.

It didn’t improve all that much in Brazil’s next game against Costa Rica either, as it took a late goal from Philippe Coutinho to get them ahead and a late Neymar goal to seal it.

A more impressive Brazil performance against Serbia awarded them a 2-0 win and they started to get their mojo back.

Next up was their biggest test and it came in the form of Mexico who had already shocked World Champions Germany.

While Neymar was the centrepiece for his theatrics, it didn’t take long for him to get his mojo back too.

It was the first game of this World Cup where we actually saw the Neymar that had impressed so much for Paris Saint-Germain last season.

Neymar got the all important first goal when he made a lovely run following his own good pass to Willian, providing the final touch close to the line.

The former Barcelona star will come up against much sterner opposition when he faces off against Belgium.

Safe to say, Brazil fans will have to hope that their side are starting to push into at least third gear or they could easily be turned over by an exciting Belgium side.

Belgium team news vs Brazil

There are no fresh injury worries for Roberto Martinez and his men going into the game.

Romelu Lukaku was previously injured but has since returned to full fitness.

Brazil team news vs Belgium

The big news for Brazil is that Marcelo has returned to full training ahead of the game.

He had to be substituted in the last game of the group stage due to what seemed to be a back spasm.

While Marcelo had to sit out the game against Mexico, he will likely be available vs Belgium.

Douglas Costa has also returned to full training after an injury and will likely be on the bench.

With Gabriel Jesus struggling to make an impact, Roberto Firmino was in with a shout of coming in having scored off the bench against Mexico.

However the Brazil team below has been confirmed as the starting line-up, over 24 hours before kick-off.

Casemiro is suspended for this one due to accumulation of yellow cards, Fernandinho will replace the Real Madrid man.
