Panama, meanwhile, failed to score in their preparation matches and have won only one of their last seven matches.

Belgium vs Panama match preview

Group G gets underway on Monday with Belgium taking on minnows Panama at the Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi.

The Red Devils arrive in Russia in red-hot form. Dries Mertens, Romelu Lukaku (2) and Michy Batshuayi scored in Belgium’s 4-1 win over Costa Rica last week.

Prior to that, Roberto Martinez’s side beat Belgium with goals from Lukaku, Eden Hazard and Marouane Fellaini.

Belgium breezed through their qualification group, winning 9 and drawing 1 of their 10 matches to finish above the likes of Greece and Bosnia.

Manchester United’s Lukaku top-scored for Belgium with 11 goals in qualifying. Eden Hazard chipped in with six.

From goalkeeper to striker, Belgium’s squad is filled with world class players who play at the highest level. All top five Premier League clubs have representatives in the Belgium squad, as do Barcelona, PSG, Monaco, Napoli and Borussia Dortmund.

Panama’s first appearance

Panama will be making their debut appearance at the finals.

Panama narrowly claimed the final automatic CONCACAF spot in qualifying, finishing above Honduras, United States and Trinidad and Tobago. Hernan Gomez’s side scored just nine goals in their 10 matches.

Los Canaleros were beaten 1-0 by Norway in their final warm-up match following their 0-0 draw with Northern Ireland.

Belgium take on Tunisia next before facing England, in a match that is expected to determine the winners of the Group.

Belgium team news vs Panama

Former Manchester City defender Dedryck Boyata could start in a back-three, with Vincent Kompany and Thomas Vermaelen both fitness doubts.

Mousa Dembele could miss out on a spot next to Kevin de Bruyne, with Axel Witsel likely to get the nod.

Michy Batshuayi is another fitness concern, meaning a probable front three of Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku and Dries Mertens.

Panama team news vs Belgium

Captain Roman Torres is carrying a slight knock but is expected to recover in time for Monday’s match.

The Central American side will almost certainly field five across the back and try to catch Belgium on the counter.
