Scottie Scheffler surged into the lead during the third round of the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club.
The world No. 1 carded a 6-under-par 65, bringing his total to 11-under for the tournament and securing a three-shot advantage heading into the final round
Scheffler’s impressive performance was carried by a strong finish, playing his final five holes in 5-under par, including an eagle on the 14th hole and a birdie on the 15th.
The surge allowed him to overtake overnight leader Jhonattan Vegas, who struggled with a 2-over-par 73, dropping him into a tie for fifth place at 6-under.
Alex Noren climbed into solo second place with a 5-under-par 66, bringing his total to 8-under for the tournament.
Davis Riley and J.T. Poston are tied for third at 7-under, both posting solid rounds to stay within striking distance of the lead ahead of Sunday’s showdown.

Bryson DeChambeau had somewhat of a rollercoaster round, starting strong but faltering with a double bogey on the 17th hole, which dropped him down the leaderboard.
Jon Rahm and Si Woo Kim are among a group tied at 6-under, keeping them in contention to chase down Scheffler.
Rory McIlroy, who barely made the cut, will need a remarkable final round to challenge for the title on the final day.
Weather delays earlier in the day led to revised tee times and three-ball pairings, with players contending with softer greens and increasing winds.
Despite the challenges, the leaderboard remains tightly packed and sets the stage for an exciting 18 holes to crown the PGA Championship winner.
