The Boston Celtics have confirmed Jayson Tatum has undergone successful surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon.
Tatum suffered a non-contact injury on Monday during the closing stages of Boston’s 121-113 loss to the New York Knicks in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals, which gave the Knicks a 3-1 series lead.
The six-time All-Star helped the Celtics to a 4-1 win in last season’s NBA Finals but now faces a long recovery from a devastating injury.
A statement from the Celtics read: “Jayson Tatum today underwent successful surgery to repair a ruptured right Achilles tendon.
