NFL: Eagles Signing Center Cam Jurgens To A Four-Year Extension

The deal will keep him in Philadelphia through the end of the 2029-30 season.

The Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles announced on Monday that they had agreed to a four-year contract extension with center Cam Jurgens. According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the deal is worth $68 million.

“I feel like I have a lot of good guys around me and I just kept learning, getting better every game this year. It’s a huge honor, so many people playing never get it,” Jurgens said after being named to the 2025 Pro Bowl. “I’m still going to do the same thing and be the same person.”

Interestingly enough, Jurgens was handpicked by longtime Eagles center Jason Kelce to be his eventual successor. After being a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Jurgens started every game of his rookie season.

Following Jason Kelce’s retirement this past off-season, Jurgens took over as the team’s starting center, where he helped Philly rush for the second-most yards in the NFL on the way to a Super Bowl Championship. His outstanding play earned him a selection in the 2025 Pro Bowl.

The Eagles continue to lay the blueprint for winning

Philly has been such a good offensive team because they’ve kept their line together. Over the last year, the Eagles have signed four of their five starting linemen to contract extensions. That type of consistency makes it very easy to attract star players (like Saquon Barkley) while keeping their Super Bowl MVP quarterback happy. More importantly, maintaining that beastly offensive line ensures the Eagles will compete for Super Bowls for years to come.

Over the last few years, the Eagles have done an excellent job of rewarding their best players for the contributions they have made to the team. That’s why guys like linebacker Zack Baun, running back Saquon Barkley, offensive lineman Lane Johnson, and now center Cam Jurgens have all received massive paydays.

On top of that, other organizations and star players have praised the Eagles for the way they have handled and rewarded their talent recently. In fact, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has referenced Philadelphia when talking about the franchise’s ability to pay players while keeping their core together.

All future free agents should have Philadelphia at or near the top of their list when they’re allowed to test free agency. They have one of the biggest and most promising championship windows in the NFL right now. Plus, they make sure they keep their players happy with fantastic contract extensions. Every team in the NFL that has financial flexibility should be copying what the Eagles are doing.
