Lions star Aidan Hutchinson fully cleared ahead of OTAs

The Lions will be have Aidan Hutchinson available again when they start OTAs next week.

Aidan Hutchinson of the Lions

Detroit Lions star Aidan Hutchinson has been fully cleared to resume football activities.

Hutchinson’s 2024 season came to an end in October when he fractured both his tibia and fibula in a Week 6 win over the Dallas Cowboys in October.

At that point, Hutchinson looked on pace to challenge for Defensive Player of the Year honors having recorded 7.5 sacks in his first five games of the campaign.

His absence did not stop Detroit from earning the top seed in the NFC playoffs, but the Lions’ defense was shredded without him in their Divisional Round loss to the Washington Commanders, who claimed a stunning 45-31 win at Ford Field.

The Lions start OTA practices next Tuesday, and they will have Hutchinson available as they step up their preparations for what they hope will be another deep postseason run.

“I’m fully cleared,” Hutchinson told a press conference when asked for his status.

“I got cleared a while back and I’m rolling with the boys now and it feels like I’m back to being myself again.

“I’m really looking forward to the season. I think this is the most excited I’ve been for OTAs in my life.

“This is the biggest hiatus I’ve had without playing ball so I’m pumped.”
