NFL Draft 2025: Sanders slide continues as QB remains undrafted after three rounds

The 23-year-old is still available ahead of the fourth round on Saturday

After three rounds of the 2025 NFL draft, Shedeur Sanders remains undrafted as the former Colorado quarterback’s stunning slide continues.

Sanders, the son of Deion Sanders, the Pro Football Hall of Famer who remains the only athlete to play in both a Super Bowl and World Series, was widely considered a first-round talent. However, the 23-year-old is still available entering the fourth round on Saturday.

More than 100 picks and five quarterbacks have been selected ahead of Sanders as his plummet continues to dominate the headlines in this year’s draft.

He was arguably the most recognisable player in the country entering the draft, due in part to his father, who had stints with the Falcons, 49ers, Cowboys, Redskins and Ravens as player and who is currently head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes.

The five QBs to be selected ahead of Sanders are Cam Ward, who was drafted by the Titans, while the Giants took Jaxson Dart of Mississippi.

In round two, the Saints selected Louisville’s Tyler Shough before two more quarterbacks went in the third round as Jalen Milroe joined the Seahawks and Dillon Gabriel was chosen by the Browns.

“Thank you GOD for EVERYTHING,” Sanders posted on X during the third round.

One person who has been left surprised by Sanders’ slide is Denver Broncos coach, Sean Payton.

Payton is not on the look-out for a QB but said about Sanders: “There will be this chip on his shoulder and beware because this guy’s going to play in this league.

“I think it’s surprising.”
