Why Jack Grealish will miss Villa’s next two matches including Leicester City

Jack Grealish

Grealish injury

Aston Villa have been hit with a big blow on the injury front, after club captain Jack Grealish suffered an issue in training, ruling him out for at least their next two matches.

It has been reported that the England international is to be assessed ahead of a possible longer term lay-off.

‘Villa will be without captain Jack Grealish for today’s game with Leicester. The attacker picked up an injury in training this week and will not be in the squad. He’s also expected to miss next week’s game with Leeds United and will then be assessed to see if there’s any longer-term damage,‘ reported Gregg Evans of The Athletic.

‘Villa are also without right-back Matt Cash today who has a hamstring injury.’

Aston Villa have selected Anwar El Ghazi to deputise versus Leicester this afternoon:

Longer lay-off rumours

Rumours have surfaced that the injury could see Grealish ruled out for even longer.

Aston Villa have enjoyed a fruitful season, which has seen them touted as possible European qualification contenders. However, the loss of Jack Grealish will be felt massively, as he has been one of their greatest assets and goal scoring threats for several years now.

The emphasis will now be on the likes of Ollie Watkins and Emi Martinez to keep up their own good form in their respective halves of the pitch, to continue the Birmingham-based club’s push whilst Grealish is out.
