Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure confirms Tottenham snub to play for Arsene Wenger

Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure on Telefoot

Last weekend Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure was a guest on French TV show Telefoot.

Doucoure has been one of the unsung heroes in the Premier League this season.

While twelve months ago everyone was raving about Etienne Capoue at Watford, this season Doucoure has received all the plaudits.

The 25-year-old has played 26 matches for Watford in the Premier League this season. He’s chipped in with two assist and an hugely impressive seven goals.

Doucoure, who joined Watford from Granada having been brought up at Rennes, is under contract with Watford until 2020.

But on Telefoot, the Watford star answered questions about moving on from Vicarage Road.

Tottenham vs Arsenal

Doucoure revealed on Telefoot that three Premier League sides are chasing his signature.

Those sides are Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool.

Later in the show the Watford star answered quick-fore questions nuder the spotlight.

He was asked whether he’d prefer to join Spurs or the Gunners?

Doucoure confirmed he’d rather join Arsenal because of the opportunity to play for Arsene Wenger.

Looking at which club may be best for Doucoure, perhaps Tottenham isn’t the best fit.

Mauricio Pochettino has options in central midfielder with the likes of Mousa Dembele, Eric Dier and Harry Winks already on the club’s books.

Liverpool, however, could be a neat fit in the summer. That’s because Emre Can is likely to leave Anfield at the end of the season on a free transfer once his contract expires.

And Arsenal? Many have criticised the strength in depth in centre-mid at the Gunners this season. Although, with Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny and Jck Wilshere, Arsenal do have options in those roles.
