Arsenal training photos hint at personnel boost before Aston Villa

are set to take on Aston Villa at the Emirates tomorrow night, in a key clash between two sides that are currently underperforming in the early doors of the 2021-22 Premier League season.

Thankfully for Arsenal supporters, training pictures emerged today as the first-team were put through their paces at London Colney, which showcased the fact that the Gunners look set to receive valuable reinforcements before taking on Dean Smith’s Villans.

England youngster Bukayo Saka was pictured smiling amongst the first-team squad as Mikel Arteta’s outfit were put through their preparation plans to pounce on a Villa outfit that come to north London on the back of two straight losses in the league. Arsenal, on the other hand, are one of the in-form outfits in the English top-fight, having gone undefeated in their last five league outings while picking up eleven of a possible fifteen points.

Form chart flatters to deceive the situation at Arsenal

Though many say that the form chart – and by extension the table – doesn’t lie, they lack the requisite nuanced approach to field an opinion that is rather outdated.

The truth is, the table very much does lie and in the case of Arsenal, the fact that the Gunners are in the midst of a five-match unbeaten run after an abysmal start to the Premier League campaign overshadows what is being produced on the pitch.

In a similar scenario that eventually saw former boss Unai Emery removed from his post, Mikel Arteta has been unable to get Arsenal to fire on all cylinders this season.

Apart from a credible 3-1 win against Tottenham in the North London Derby, the wins against Norwich and Burnley were hardly positive performances, while a last-gasp equaliser from Alexandre Lacazette this past Monday earned them a point against Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace that they hardly deserved.

An improved performance tomorrow evening under Friday night lights in the English capital – and against former goalkeeper Emi Martínez – is required if the club intend to kick on into the top half of the Premier League table.
