Enormous for Tottenham: Harry Kane returns vs Chelsea

Harry Kane’s to return vs Chelsea

Huge, enormous news has broken on social media on Saturday night for Tottenham fans.

According to Alasdair Gold, Harry Kane will be in Tottenham’s matchday squad for the Chelsea game on Sunday.

Obviously that does not mean that Kane will be in the Spurs XI. It also leaves that possibility open.

The likeliest scenario is that Son Heung-min will lead the Tottenham attack at Stamford Bridge, but Kane will be on the bench if needed.

When Harry Kane limped out of the Bournemouth match three weeks ago, fans were fearing the worst.

But Kane has made a faster than expected recovery, which is great news for Spurs and England.

Tottenham’s awful Stamford Bridge record

How long will Mauricio Pochettino be able to resist playing Kane at Chelsea, if indeed the rumours are true?

Tottenham haven’t won at Stamford Bridge in 28 years! That’s an insane amount of time.

1990 was the year Spurs last won at the Bridge – a period in which has seen them endure 18 defeats and nine draws.

Last season, this fixture helped Chelsea to build the foundations to go on and clinch the Premier League title ahead of Tottenham.

This time, avoiding defeat for Spurs is a must in order to prevent a late surge for the top-four from the Blues.

Harry Kane vs Mohamed Salah

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah moved onto 29 goals for the Premier League season after he scored the winner against Crystal Palace.

Salah and Kane are battling it out to be the Premier League’s top scorer this season.

Before the international break, Liverpool beat Watford 5-0 as Salah scored four goals for the Reds.

Salah is now five goals clear of Kane, but the Spurs striker has two games in hand, including Chelsea.

It’s worth remembering that Kane finished last season on fire scoring four against Leicester and three against Hull.

Spurs also have a game in hand over Liverpool. And Spurs have a ‘good’ run of fixture until the end of the campaign as they take on teams including Stoke, Brighton, Watford, Newcastle, West Brom and Leicester.
