Thibaut Courtois match winning save
There was an unreal end to Wednesday night’s Premier League match at the Stadium of Light.
Chelsea, the league leaders, took the lead in the first half through returning starter to the team: Cesc Fabregas.
But the Pensioners were unable to extend their advantage, and in the final minute of injury time at the end of the game, Sunderland had a great chance.
So what happened?
The Black Cats had a free kick which was only partially repelled towards Patrick van Aanholt on the edge of the Blues box.
PAV did brilliant to control the ball and evade two Chelsea challenges.
Once free, the Sunderland left-back took his opportunity to have a late shot on goal – and it was a blinder.
Van Aanholt’s effort was heading into the top corner, Chelsea were about to drop two points, but then Thibaut Courtois stuck out his massive right hand to turn the shot aside.
It was a match winning, three points earning save.
