The latest on Man United’s Jadon Sancho pursuit/Alex Telles ‘urges’ Porto to lower asking price

Updates on Manchester United’s moves for a pair of key summer targets have been forthcoming online over the last 24 hours.

Sancho targeted

First up comes the latest on Jadon Sancho.

Speculation surrounding the future of English international Sancho has of course been rampant for several months now.

On the back of another scintillating campaign with Dortmund, during which he racked up an eye-watering 20 goals and 20 assists, widespread reports have hinted at a potential Premier League return for the 20-year-old.

The likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and even former club Manchester City have been tipped as possible landing spots, though it is of course Manchester United who have been most heavily linked.

Jadon Sancho

Recent weeks, though, had seen speculation begin to mount that Sancho in fact looks set to remain at Signal Iduna Park this summer, claims adamantly backed by Dortmund director Sebastian Kehl.

As such, the widespread assumption had since been that Manchester United were set to focus on other targets, before reigniting their pursuit ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

If the latest word stemming from the media over the last 24 hours is to be believed, however, then this may in fact not prove the case.

As per Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports News, the Red Devils remain ‘quietly confident’ of landing Sancho before the close of the transfer market next month.

It is even suggested that Ed Woodward could sanction a proposal next week:

Interestingly, this comes just hours after a similar, albeit more detailed claim, was made on the part of journalist John Cross.

Writing for the Daily Star, Cross definitively stated that:

‘Manchester United will make a first and final bid of £90m for Jadon Sancho next week.’

It is added that this proposal is expected to be made up of £75 million up front, followed by £15 million worth of add-ons.

Telles pushing

The 2nd piece of Manchester United-related transfer news to have come to the fore over the last 24 hours, meanwhile, surrounds Alex Telles.

Porto standout Telles has been hotly-tipped for an Old Trafford switch of late, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer aims to bulk up his options at left-back.

To this point, however, a deal between the clubs is yet to be struck.

But, if the Brazilian himself has his way, then he will indeed be donning the colours of United by the time October’s transfer deadline rolls around.

This is if the latest word courtesy of The Guardian’s Jamie Jackson is to be believed, anyway.

It is claimed that Telles is pushing his current employers to lower their asking price for his services, to ensure a transfer comes to fruition.

As things stand, Porto are believed to be demanding a little over £18 million for their star stopper’s signature.

Telles, though, believes that a fee of closer to £12 million would be more appropriate, a viewpoint shared by the transfer chiefs at Old Trafford.

This comes with the 27-year-old’s contract at the Estádio do Dragão due to expire in less than a year’s time.
