Fresh from a massive 3-1 victory over Aston Villa, Sunderland have made a January signing to boost their bid for survival in the Premier League.
Having taken over from Dick Advocaat, Big Sam Allardyce was always going to splash the cash in January and Sunderland have brought in Jan Kirchhoff from Bayern Munich, according to a reliable Bild journalist (see Tweet below) and Kicker magazine.

Kirchhoff is a fringe player at Bayern Munich and has made just one Bundesliga appearance this season.
But, the 25-year-old could be a very useful player for Sunderland as he can play in central defence and midfield.
Sunderland will pay around one million euros for Kirchhoff and he will sign a contract until 2018 at the Stadium of Light.
Sam Allardyce’s side are four points off relegation, they face critical upcoming Premier League games against Swansea and Spurs after an FA Cup 3rd round tie at Arsenal.
