Aaron Ramsey was always likely to be a key figure in Arsenal’s Premier League match at Stoke on Sunday.

So much so, that the Sunday papers linked the Welshman with a move to Barcelona today!

In February 2010, Ramsey suffered a serious injury at Stoke with a poor challenge from Ryan Shawcross.

Despite the fact that the Arsenal midfielder spent the next 10 months out thanks to a double fracture of his leg, Stoke fans have seemingly not forgotten how Ramsey treated Shawcross after the injury.

Shawcross tried to contact Ramsey and wrote the Arsenal midfielder a letter but the Welshman has refused to speak to the former Manchester United defender ever since. And, Stoke fans are still angry that Ramsey refused to acknowledge that Shawcross tried to apologise.

Likewise, especially whilst Tony Pulis was manager of Stoke, relations between the Potters and Arsenal were never too great after the incident in 2010.

Some Arsenal fans complained again today that playing Stoke is like a London derby against say Spurs or Chelsea and it was certainly a tough match for the Gunners.

It must have also been very difficult for Aaron Ramsey, who was subjected to disgraceful chants from the Stoke support.

Late on Aaron Ramsey cleared off the line from a Stoke corner. It was some justice for the Welshman after being booed by the Stoke fans. For having his leg smashed to pieces in 2010.

Of particular significance below, are the Tweets from The Secret Footballer, widely believed to be Dave Kitson, a former Stoke player and former team mate of Ryan Shawcross.
