Sergio Ramos’ previous comments on Ben White should excite Arsenal fans

Quotes attributed to Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos, pertaining to the talents of Arsenal-linked Ben White, have been turning plenty of heads online this evening.

Emirates bound

The name of Brighton standout White has of course taken centre stage in the media of late.

This comes with the English international, fresh off the back of a starring debut campaign in the Premier League, inching ever closer to a big-money transfer.

White’s predicted landing spot? Arsenal.

As per a host of reliable sources, Mikel Arteta has identified the 23-year-old as the ideal addition to his backline in North London, with White in line to form an exciting long-term partnership alongside Gabriel Magalhaes.

A deal worth up to £50 million, in turn, is in the offing between Arsenal and Brighton, with official confirmation likely to be forthcoming over the next couple of weeks.

‘Really impressed’

Despite White’s immense talent and room for growth, though, plenty of an Arsenal persuasion have already made crystal clear their concerns regarding a swoop for the Brighton man.

The main issue highlighted comes in the form of the sizable fee, with many of the opinion that such funds would be better utilised in reinforcing other areas of Mikel Arteta’s squad.

As outlined above, though, those with doubts over their side’s predicted spending over the coming weeks may well take comfort in a pair of quotes attributed to one of world football’s finest defenders.

Speaking on the The Phil Hay Show this week, Victor Orta, Director of Football at Leeds United, revealed a somewhat bizarre story, centering on he and Sergio Ramos taking in White’s talents, during the stopper’s loan spell with Newport County three years ago.

Orta, who was responsible for bringing White to Elland Road for the 2019/20 season, explained:

‘I remember in the first moment Sergio Ramos said ”who is this kid? Playing in the line of Newport?” And was really impressed.’

Not a bad reference for the Arsenal-bound talent…
