Rumour: Arsenal closing in on a striker, suggestions it’s Leicester’s Jamie Vardy

Warning: what you are about to read are rumours

Put another way, there is no proof yet that the following is anything more than speculation.

It’s already been a busy Wednesday at Arsenal following the signing of Granit Xhaka from Borussia Mönchengladbach.

According to the BBC, Arsenal have paid around £30m for the Swiss international midfielder.

While the Gunners have boosted their options in the middle of the park, many supporters are still pining for a top striker to join this summer.

Olivier Giroud may have scored a hat-trick on the final day of the season against Aston Villa, but many Arsenal fans still believe he’s not good enough to lead the team to significant silverware.

Arsenal & strikers

Spanish striker Alvaro Morata has been linked to Arsenal in the past few weeks, but now a new forward is being tipped to join the Gunners.

In what would be an incredible transfer, rumours are building that Jamie Vardy may move to the Emirates Stadium from Leicester.

Earlier in the week it was reported that Vardy, who signed a new contract with the Foxes in March, has a £20 million release clause valid for fellow Champions League competitors.

So where’s the Vardy to Arsenal rumours come from?

Starting with Pablo, aka @AFCAMDEN – who is a well known inside source of all things Arsenal related – he posted the following message to his followers today.

Next up was Mr DT ©, aka @DeejayDt, who also told his followers that he’s been sworn to secrecy about exciting behind the scenes moves at Arsenal.

Lastly, one ballsy Arsenal fan has already claimed Vardy agreed to join Arsenal last Friday.

While this could all be hot air, it’s also got the potential to be one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer.
