Revealed: Why Yaya Toure has been at Tottenham’s training ground this week

Toure – Manchester City legend

Yaya Toure is one of the most talented and influential players of his generation.

The ex-Manchester City and Barcelona man had a glittering career, which included lifting three Premier League titles, one Champions League trophy and the Africa Cup of Nations trophy with the Ivory Coast.

In addition, he was voted 4 times as the African Footballer of the year and was renowned for his skill, power, and ability to grab a game by the scruff of the neck through his sheer midfield dominance.

So, why is he at Tottenham’s training ground?

In recent days, Toure has been at the Spurs training ground alongside Antonio Conte. Unfortunately for Spurs fans, though, this is not to make the move to the north London club as a player.

Instead, he is working alongside the academy coaches at the club as he aims to complete his coaching badges.

As per The Athletic:

“Toure is expected to be at Hotspur Way on an informal basis for two days a week, working alongside academy head Dean Rastrick and the rest of the academy coaches on a very short-term basis.”

There is as of yet no suggestion that Toure will end up continuing at Tottenham in the longer term, but he is said to have a good influence on the younger players that he is coaching, while his experience of top-flight football can only be an added bonus.

Is there a role for him at Tottenham in the future?
