Real Madrid have contacted Man United’s Jose Mourinho – El Pais

Man United & Jose Mourinho

In the build-up to Manchester United’s Champions League match against Juventus, Jose Mourinho has discussed his Old Trafford future.

There’s been plenty of chatter this season that Mourinho could be fired from Man United.

Yet, against that speculation, the Special One remains under contract in Manchester until 2020.

Prior to the Juventus game, Mourinho indicated he could stay with United even longer. He said:

My future is here. I have a contract and I am happy to stay here after the very last day of my contract and longer than that. All I am thinking about at the moment is Manchester United.

That possibility has been floated in Spanish daily El Pais on Tuesday.

According to the report, Real Madrid have made contact with Mourinho to sound out the manager ahead of a possible return to Los Blancos.

Real Madrid are suffering their worst start to the season in 17 years. Manager Julen Lopetegui is reportedly on the verge of getting the sack.

El Pais make some interesting comments about Mourinho and Man United. They report that Mourinho is “waiting to be fired”, however the manager is refusing to walk away from Old Trafford as “he does not want to give up two and a half seasons of wages”.

Mourinho reportedly stands to earn 20 million euros net per year at United.
