PSG shut down rumours of Mauricio Pochettino leaving the club mid-season amid Man United interest

PSG remain adamant that Pochettino will remain in Paris this season

Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain have dug their heels into the dirt regarding speculation surrounding manager Mauricio Pochettino amid links suggesting he will leave the French capital and fill the managerial vacancy at Manchester United.

According to Chief Football Correspondent for The Telegraph Jason Burt;

“Senior PSG sources deny there has been an approach from Manchester United for their head coach but they are aware that he is interested in succeeding Ole Gunnar Solskjær. There is tension between Pochettino and PSG’s sporting director Leonardo while the Argentine has complained at the lack of control he has at the French giants. It is understood Pochettino wants to be regarded as a manager rather than a head coach and would demand such a role at his next club.” Note: to view full story, click here

Pochettino himself did not make any mention of a desire to leave Les Parisiens in the immediate future, with the Argentine manager speaking out yesterday regarding his links to Manchester United but made it plain that he was happy in the French capital and was under contract until 2023.

Has Argentine dropped a key hint over a potential Man United move?

Despite Mauricio Pochettino insisting that he is set to remain at PSG, the club being aware of his desire to be the long-term replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjær at Man United is certainly telling, and according to Sky Sports journalist Ben Ransom, the former Tottenham boss may have already dropped a hint regarding any potential move after the current season.

Regardless of the current speculation, Man United continues to search for possible interim candidates if Pochettino cannot be prized away this season and has now been rumored with turning their attention towards Ralf Rangnick.

The former RB Leipzig, Schalke, and TSG Hoffenheim manager is currently in a new role at Russian outfit Lokomotive Moscow as their Head of Sports & Development as of this past summer, and any move from that position was shot down by Christian Falk earlier today.
